Game Theory Group, an innovative local company geared toward student-athletes, athletic departments and employers, is moving around the corner from one Uptown Greenville location to another vibrant new space. GTG will make its new home at 220 Cotanche St.

“The new space is going to be a great reflection of the technology company we are,” says founder and CEO Vin McCaffrey, whose company has been part of Uptown Greenville since June 2014. “Many of our team members walk or bike to work, and it is close to ECU, which is important as we continue to build out a robust internship program with them. We all feel like Uptown is the center of Greenville and we love being a part of it.”

McCaffrey, a former student-athlete himself, says his own experience with athletics was the inspiration behind the idea.

“GTG was founded on the belief that the student-athlete experience transforms an individual and has the opportunity to positively impact the athlete and the organizations they touch,” he says. “GTG offers athletic departments a software platform to comprehensively manage and engage their student-athletes.”

The engagement with student-athletes through the platform also allows GTG to provide services to existing and aspiring college athletes and their potential employers. The company currently has nine full-time employees as well as interns and part-time team members in Greenville and elsewhere, serving a nationwide client base.

McCaffrey and his wife, Julie, who moved to Greenville from Chicago in 2008, are both involved in the company.

“We are a technology start up with big plans and Greenville has offered us great value – the people, the capital and the support for Game Theory is wonderful. I certainly thank Greenville and all of eastern N.C. for the support,” he says.
