GREENVILLE, N.C. — Globe Pharmacy is coming to 401 Evans St. so that students, residents, and employees in Uptown Greenville will have access to pharmacy services like immunizations and prescription medications.

Owner Paige Hamilton is an experienced pharmacist, having managed and owned eastern North Carolina pharmacies for more than 20 years. Her daughter’s experience with the lack of a pharmacy in the area during her time at ECU helped Hamilton decide it was a good time to bring one to Greenville.

She said the Globe name — for decades Globe Hardware was a cornerstone of the community — carries a tradition of excellent customer service, which is also a hallmark of her pharmacies. Before settling on the name, she and her partners got the blessing of the widow of the hardware store’s owner, who was excited to hear of the project.

Hamilton likes the location for having the mixed clientele of a business district with nearby residential neighborhoods, apartment complexes and ECU.

“We will have a phone app to request refills, and our software has text notifications available,” Hamilton said.

The store’s interior is being renovated and the façade is being restored, with input from the N.C. Historic Preservation Office, to better reflect its original appearance. Hamilton is also embracing the proximity of the university, working with marketing students to develop ideas for reaching the Greenville community.

“We’re more like family than coworkers,” she says of her team, many of whom are long-time employees.

Hamilton said she looks forward to welcoming new customers in Uptown Greenville into the Globe Pharmacy family.
